Bolles Sharks Break the 13-14 200 Medley Relay NAG Record!

By Sergio López Miró

November 14, 2012

It has been a great few days of good and fast swimming for our Bolles swimmers.  Last night (Tuesday 11/13/12) we had our 2012 Bolles Time Trial to take advantage of the resting that we did for High School States and hopefully get some more cuts for different meets.  The results were great, even though the meet was after class and it was raining and kind of cold.

Our Boys 13-14 200 Medley Relay broke the National Age Group Record by over 2 seconds with and impressive 1:35.94, the old record was 1:38.24 by Premier A.C. of Klein set in 2012.  Sorry I did not have my camera with me L. CONGRATS!!!!

1:25.02

One of our young swimmers James Daugherty (13) that was part of the Record setting relay swam an impressive 2:05.87 in the 200 Breaststroke to give him his first 2012 Winter Junior cut.  His best time from last February was 2:15.31. In my opinion James is a very talented swimmer with a great future ahead of him.  He is only in 8th grade and I am excited to get to work with him for this next five years.

This past few months we have been battling a lot of sickness and many of our kids could not swim today.  I think the stress of these past three weeks leading to the States with Districts and Regionals took a big toll on the kids.

Some other impressive performances we had today:

Caeleb Dressel (16) had a very good meet with a 23.14 back leading off in the 15-16 200 Medley Relay, 44.34 in the 100 Free and 20.12 50 Free leading off the 15-16 200 Free Relay

Santo Condorelli (17) that he was sick and after the meet he had 102 fever but never told me anything swam two pretty good races with 200 IM 1:50.18 & 100 Breast 56.90.

Ryan Murphy (17) swam an impressive 47.48 100 Fly and a 3:52.69 in the 400 IM with probably no more than 10 minutes rest in between.

Joseph Schooling (17) swam a 20.61 in the 50 Free, 49.03 in the 100 Back and a 57.09 in the 100 Breast with honestly too no more than 10 minutes between events.

Luke Georgiadis(16) made his first Junior National cut in the 100 Free with a 45.69. CONGRATS!!!

Marijn (Wizard) Van Zundert (18) that he graduated from high school last August and he is training with us to find a University for next academic year swam two very good races with a 56.60 in the 100 Breast and a 2:04.28 in the 200 Breast.  I think Wizard (we call him that because his name is too complicated to pronounce) will do very well in college and hopefully after Junior Nationals many college coaches start looking at him.  He came from the Netherlands this past August and he is improving at a very fast rate.

Other good swims that gave us more bonus cuts for Junior Nationals:

Meghan Haila (16) in the 200 IM with a 2:06.32, and in the 200 Breaststroke with a 2:19.91.

McKenna Deveber (16) in the 200 Free with a 1:52.94, and in the 50 Free 23.84.

Claire Rasmus (15) in the 100 Fly with a 57.40 and 50 Free with a 23.70.

Olga Lapteva (15) in the 400 IM with a 4:30.29, and in the 100 Fly with a 57.40.

Josh Booth (16) in the 500 Free with a 4:32.28.

Overall a very good meet for our Bolles Sharks even my 11 year old son Cobi swam best times in the 50 Free (29.93) breaking for the first time the huge 30 seconds barrier and 200 Breaststroke with an over 30 seconds drop and a 2:55.29. As you can see I am a proud “Papa”.  I know Cobi wants to be faster but I keep telling him that he is a lot faster than I was at his age and the only thing he needs is to keep working hard, patience and a little bit of luck 😉

Now we need to get ready for our meet this weekend, The Gator Invite and same weekend Winter Nationals, a week later Junior Nationals and the following week the 2012 Short Course World Championships.  Busy next few weeks but it will be fun.

Everyone have a beautiful day!
