One less Starbucks This Week for a Good Cause!

I know I have not posted much on my blog for a while and I am sorry about that.  I have been trying to get the team ready for the High School States these past few weeks and when I get home I am kind of toasted ;-)

Well, today I am writing this one to ask you to help a good cause.  I know nowadays we are always bombarded by good causes that need our help and at times it is overwhelming.  But a good friend of mine, Brett Hawke, is trying to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis “MS”.

Three years ago his wife Trudi was diagnosed with MS and these past few weeks The Auburn Swimming & Diving Team has been working hard to reach the goal of raising $20,000.00.  The team has been divided in two teams (Blue & Orange) and as of today they have almost reach their goal.

As of this morning both teams had raised so far $17,055.00:

Blue Team – Captain: Brett Hawke: $9,350.00

Orange Team – Captain: Trudi Hawke: $7,705.00

Today our Lopez Miro Family (Sandy, Harley, Cobi & me ;-) have donated $100.00 to each one of the teams and the reason for this post is to reach out to my blog, twitter and facebook followers and ask you to donate to one of the teams.  I believe I have over 2000 followers on twitter and if only 500 of you would donate $5.00 (one starbucks less this week) we could help them reach their goal.

This summer my wife and I had the privilege to meet Trudi and she is a great young lady that has been dealt a very bad hand at this young age.  Think about it and help them reach their goal so they can raise as much as possible to help finding the cure for a disease that affects millions of people all over the world.

Here is a video of an interview with Brett and Swimming World TV:

Special Thanks to our Bolles Alumni that are currently swimming at Auburn and are helping the cause: Megan Fonteno, Aubery Peacock, Ashley Neidigh and Alex Goerzen.

Thank you for reading it and hopefully for your donation ;-)

LAST DAY TO DONATE IS Friday November 8th, 2013. Only 5 days left!!!

Ryan Murphy – 18 & Under National Champion – Videos & Pics

Ryan Murphy had a very good meet he still felt slightly short of making the World Championship Team twice in the 100 & 200 Backstroke events. He still was National Champion in the 50-100-200 Backstroke, third behind his teammates Caeleb Dressel and Santo Condorelli in the 100 Free.

Also Ryan’s performances in the backstroke events he sits right now 6th in the 100 back, 7th in the 200 Back, and 18th in the 50 Back.  Great accomplishment for a 17 year old swimmer and most important great future ahead of him.

Charlie Houchin does it Again & makes the Team USA Worlds

Video of Charlie being announced as a member of the 2013 Team USA for the FINA World Championships to celebrate at the end of this month in my hometown Barcelona ;-)

Charlie has done an amazing job these past two years here with us at Bolles.  I believe he has grown as a person and as an athlete but also most important he has had an amazing impact on our Sharks.  He is an amazing gifted swimmer but most important he has the will to work hard and correct anything he has to technically. I am very happy for him for his results this season and very thankful that so far I have had this chance to coach him, learn from him and share my thoughts with him.

After the Olympics he has done a very good job organizing his life and setting himself up with his company IX3Sports in order to keep moving forward, and hopefully represent again Team USA at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Here you have the videos of Charlie’s races. Enjoy:

100 Free Prelims (49”64)

200 Free Prelims (1:47”55) & Finals (1:47”36)

400 Free Prelims (3:51”43) & Finals (3:47”16)

Charlie also places 11th in the World Rankings in the 400 Free and 27th in the 200 Free.  CONGRATS!!!

Now he will get to travel with the best team in the world to the BEST CITY IN THE WORLD – BARCELONA!

Good Luck Charlie – Good Luck Team USA!

Santo Condorelli – 18 & Under national Champion – Videos & Pics

Here you have the videos that we took with my phone (sorry for the quality :-) when Santo Condorelli was swimming.  He had a good meet having all best times and swimming a couple of B finals in his first Nationals ever.

Santo as of right now is sitting first in the 50 Free(22”72) and second in the 100 Free (49”71) for the roster for the 2013 FINA World Junior Championships to celebrate in Dubai (UAE) at the end of August.  Let’s cross our fingers so he keeps his spots and can represent TEAM USA at Junior Worlds. here is the link to the list at USA Swimming: http://www.usaswimming.org/ViewNewsArticle.aspx?TabId=1&itemid=5332&mid=8712

Here you have the videos of Santo’s races.  Enjoy:

100 Free Prelims (49’71) & Finals (50”18)

50 Fly Prelims (24”37) & Finals (24”19)

100 Fly Prelims (53”66) & Finals (53”55)

Santos will be attending the University of Southern California starting the end of August and in my opinion he has a very bright future as a collegiate student-athlete and also as a world class swimmer.

Thanks Santo for these past three years and BEST OF LUCK!!!
