2013 Swimming World Championships - BCN 2013

Few months ago I was named one of the thirteen Ambassadors for the 2013 Swimming World Championships that will take place this summer in my hometown Barcelona.  So I thought what could be a better way to really be a good Ambassador than to talk about it in my Blog.  I believe that I am the only Ambassador that as of right now lives outside of Spain, so I am going to try to promote this event in English.  I will try to keep you updated and share my thoughts about this great event that will take place this summer in the BEST CITY IN THE WORLD – BARCELONA!

If you are a swimmer (sorry if you don’t make your team), a swim fan, a coach or just a sports fan make plans to go and watch the 2013 Swimming World Championships.  I can assure you that you will have the time of your life.  I know, I was born and raised in this wonderful city.

Thanks to swimming I have been lucky and privileged to have traveled around the world and visited many places: amazing cities, great people, unbelievable food and wine, rich history, beaches, mountains and great night life.  Honestly BARCELONA is the only city in the world that will offer you everything for you to enjoy in one trip, and now you can get all that plus watching FAST SWIMMING first hand.

Catalan and Spanish people are very creative and they love to show and share with everyone how much fun life is, and I can assure you that they are planning great events and this 2013 World Championships will be one of a kind.  If you can DON’T MISS IT.

Today I will share with you two important things from the 2013 BCN website

This first one is a promotional video about the event of how the swimmng world and the city will "Inspire the World".  I have posted the video in three languages: English, Catalan & Spanish.  Great Video and you will get a glimse of Barcelona and her beauty. Enjoy!

Here is the Mascot for the 2013 World Championships.  The Mascot name is XOP and it represents a drop of water with the influence of the great catalan artist Antonio Gaudi.

Read about XOP here:

I will keep you posted with more news and updates about BCN 2013.

Remember you hear it from me first: It will be the BEST Swimming event ever!

Great Family Vacation!

I am back with my blog and I promise you that I will keep posting regularly ;-)

August 7th I left London with my family to go to Barcelona for a short 8 day vacation.  It was great to be back home with Sandy, Harley and Cobi since last time we were there together was over 10 years ago.  I know, Cobi was a little one and Harley was only three years old but because of work we never got to travel back to Barcelona until now.  I always wanted to really take them back home regularly mainly because I believe that it is very important for both of my kids to understand and see where I come from.  Well our vacation was great and I sure hope to repeat it very soon ;-)

Here are some pictures from our Trip to Barcelona Olympic Mountain, the L’Escala (beach town north of Barcelona) and downtown Barcelona.  I will post more from this beautiful city in the future.

My son Cobi always complained to me that we gave Harley a very famous name (from Harley Davidson ;-), but I always told him that his name was very famous since he was named after the 1992 Olympic Mascot “Cobi”.  The first thing we saw when we entered the Olympic Museum at the Montjuic Mountain was a picture celebrating the 20th anniversary of Cobi the Olympic Mascot.

Here are some pictures of the beautiful town of L’Escala where we spent few days at the beach being lazy and eating great food ;-)

And here some more pictures of the “Best City in the World” BARCELONA!!!

We will be back to Barcelona next summer for the 2013 Swimming World Championships!

sun and gelato...nothin better

Today was probably one of the most fun days of our trip. We grabbed our bikinis and towels and headed to the beach! It was pretty cloudy, but somehow everyone seemed to get fried.

We found the best Gelato EVER.

Today was an amazing day! We went to see the Sagrada Familia, which is absolutely insane and huge! And it is still being worked on... after being under construction for the past two centuries! Crazy, I know!
