CLARE BLACKWELL – OUR HERO!
I know nowadays we are bombarded by charities, fundraisers and many other functions that keep asking for money for good causes. Now you get this Blog, Twitter and Facebook posting asking you for the same. I am really sorry to bother you but to the swimmers at Bolles, to the swimmers at Millfield (England) and to me and many other people Clare Blackwell is a very important person.
I am going to be straight to the point and I am going to ask you to pick one day in the next four days and not to go to Starbucks, not to eat lunch out, instead of having three beers Friday night at happy hour have two or even better have none 😉 and donate that money to help support Clare’s huge medical bill expenses and help her recover. You can do the math but in case I will help you ;-):
I have 1664 friends on Facebook, if each one of you donates the value of a tall white mocha (my favorite at Starbucks) right away we would have raised:
1664 friends x $3.60 average price of white mocha around country (more or less) = $5,990
0r if you donate the money you may spend for lunch one afternoon we could raise even more:
1664 friends x $9.80 lunch meal at Jimmy John’s 😉 (I love that place) = $16,307
As you can see we can really help her with a minimum effort, and I can assure you that it is for an amazing person that loves to share her passion with others.
I believe most of you Facebook friends or followers in twitter have some relationship with swimming and you know how much it means to have had a mentor that has helped us to understand our passion and grow as people. Please help Clare and her family; she is in the situation she is because she was going to raise money to help the Children’s Cancer Fund of Dallas.
Again I apologize for being so direct and I thank you all in advance for understanding and supporting of Clare and her family any way you can.
Read the great initiative that Lauren Neidigh (Bolles Alumni/University of Florida) has started and how you can help OUR HERO:
