This morning we had two more Bolles swimmers compete at the 2012 Olympic Games: Jospeh Schooling (Singapore) and Ariana Kukors (USA). For both of them this was their first time competing at the Games. Joseph with no much international experience and Ariana with a lot more experience in the international scene.
The 200 Fly was the second event of the day and Joseph was seeded 24th coming into the meet and he swam in lane 8 in the last heat. Everything seemed going well until 10 minutes before the race when Joseph went into the ready room and they told him that he was not able to compete with the TYR cap and that he had to black out the TYR of the swim goggles. I believe that kind of shook him up a little and he went into the race with his heart rate a little higher than normal 🙁
Joseph did not swim a best time, he swam a 1:59.18 which placed him 26th. After the race he told me that he was not really tired 🙁
I know that he did not swim his best time but we both know that he can swim a lot better. he came in seeded 24th and finished 26th. We always need to look at the positives of the negatives and some positives are:
* This is his first Olympics and he just turned 17th a month ago.
* He still has the 100 Fly and can still leave the 2012 Olympic games swimming a best time and breaking his own national Record.
* If he keeps progressing like a normal swimmer and he keeps training hard in four years it will be a different story when he swims the 200 Fly at the Games.
After the 200 Fly we had the women’s 200 IM with Ariana Kukors that came into the meet seeded third. this morning Ariana swam a good and controlled 2:11.9 that placed her 4th and will be swimming in lane five tonight in the second Semifinals.
Sorry I don’t have pictures since I had to go and see how Joseph was and forgot to tell the person taking the photos to take Ariana’s. I guess I get too nervous 😉 I will get some tonight.
Good Luck to Ariana tonight!
Go Bolles!!!
